Cameroon

After a restart in Cameroon, we can once again report positive developments. In the reporting year, the number of programs was expanded by 3 to a total of 6. A third NGO for local cooperation was also established.

During a visit in November 2024, the training and further education of local program managers was intensified. The first results are already visible in the reports for the fourth quarter of 2024, where both the number of loans issued and the quality of the materials provided could be improved.

As the next steps, we are currently reviewing two additional NGOs in other regions, as well as the selection, training, and appointment of a national coordinator. Filling this role is crucial to ensure effectiveness and efficiency on the ground.

During the most recent visit, local stakeholders were also introduced to the updated Swisshand Standard Operating Rules. Their appreciation and gratitude for the precise documentation show us that both the issuing and enforcement of these rules are a hallmark of Swisshand’s quality work.

We are on the right path, and Cameroon is set to develop into a small but fine gem within Swisshand’s activities.
