Ghana

In Ghana, Swisshand works with NGOs and churches to implement the “Promotion of Microenterprises” (Promic) programs, focusing especially on rural areas.

High inflation and public debt have recently challenged small businesses, but the situation is improving, supported by Ghana’s political stability and peaceful elections in 2024.

Our clients mainly run small trading and service businesses—such as food stalls, markets, and hair salons—with some engaged in fabric and clothing production. A major obstacle is transportation: poor roads and lack of public transit make it hard for coordinators to reach clients. To overcome this, Swisshand and local partners have co-financed motorbikes, enabling coordinators to provide timely support essential to business success.
